Abstract

A virtual tour of Putrajaya city center.

Target Audience

Guide for travelers of all age.

Goal

Giving a virtual tour of Putrajaya, its points of interest and information on the structure presented.

People may have a hard time to actually get to Putrajaya or gain information on what’s there. And with this application people can virtually tour around in Putrajaya or get a glimpse of what it’s like.

Users have the will to venture out the POIs instead of looking at it at on a flat still image. A ‘fly’ system will also include for those who’d want to get from one place to another faster.

Virtual maps has been created and as an example Google Maps. The problem with Google map is that you’d be able to move around the city but see it in one perspective only. The virtual world is presented using still images and can be viewed from a single angle. This application is to enhance the virtual tour by presenting the full environment in 3D.

Objectives

The application focuses on to give a tour of Putrajaya at any given time.

The tour requires no help from any human on guiding. Which solves one of the many accessibility issues.

Virtual Museum

A virtual museum showcasing about the cultural heritage of Malaysians.

Target Audience

User of all ages especially foreigners who are interested in knowing more about Malaysians heritage.

Goal

Showcasing Malaysian’s heritage and cultural in a nutshell.

Nowadays traditional cultural acts and life has been modernized and that people may no longer or rarely see how Malaysian’s once lived their life. This application shows the heritage and cultural acts done be Malaysian’s and historically how Malaysian’s once lived.

To explore to Malaysian culture and heritage without any given sequence and explore the environment that was once were.

Objectives

To get a sense of how Malaysian’s lived their traditional lives.

Get to know more of Malaysians in terms of their culture, food and the demographic.

Description

Before going through the application, there will be an option to view how to use the application and what is it about. Level division is done by presenting a different topic about Malaysians.

Level 1 discusses on the demographic of early Malaysian settlements and their tools of choice

Level 2 presents the cultural acts and festivals

Level 3 introduces on foods made in Malaysia

Virtual A Famosa

Title

A Famosa Time lapse

Abstract

Travel and discover the once are of the A Famosa fort city. Experience before and the rising of fort A Famosa and the falling of it.

Target Audience

Preteens by the age of 16 and above.

Goal

The known Fort A Famosa is now left in ruins and the true image of the once standing fort that is A Famosa has little to tell. And with this project we hope to retrieve the once great story behind the rise and fall of Fort A Famosa, sharing with the public and giving everyone a chance to experience a history like what it once was.

To simulate the environment back to a time when the fort was raised, constructed by the Portuguese. Knowing how the structure was built and the purpose of constructing it. Get behind the story of how the Portuguese arrive at Malacca, dating back to how they acquire the land and their idea of making a living in Malacca with the fortress city that they plan to build.

To experience the forted city after it was built. To get the feel of how the locals had their life transformed. Reliving back the time where Malacca experience major changes in terms of economic and lifestyle, whether it’d be from the locals or the comers from outside. Users are able to experience the atmosphere for within the fort, how the locals manage their lives living under the ruling eyes of the Portuguese.

Finally living out a time where the fort falls once and forevermore. Witness how the fort was destroyed and by who was it that brought it down. The story ends here with how the destruction of the fort by time and what is it to become of.

History is usually presented in plain text and being less illustrative. With this application, we hope to make the subject of history to more intuitive and interesting especially with young minds nowadays. Also, this application will allow users able to go around and feel and witness history in the making. Experiencing the atmosphere in real life is something quite impossible to achieve. But thanks to today’s technology, we are able to recreate history and experience it firsthand.

Another advantage with this application being a simulation is that users are able and given the option to roam freely within the given area and interact with the environment and people. Being it an interactive simulation, users are able to act on their own having minimal sequence required to follow.

Objectives

Learn the history of how fort A Famosa was made. The reason it was made and the impact to our country.

A learning tool to enhance how we learn history.A way to present history in a more illustrative and interactive way.

Description

Before going through the application, there will be an option to view how to use the application and what is it about. The application level will derive on the history of fort A Famosa’s lifetime.

Level 1 shows the earlier lifetime of the people living within the developing area and the beginning of fort A Famosa. How it was established and for what reason.

Level 2 focuses more on how well fort A Famosa runs and the effects that it gave towards those living in or near it.

Level 3 explains the downfall and end time for fort A Famosa and what was to become of it.

Virtual cooking

Abstract

Simulates on how to cook local foods, both modern and traditional.

Target Audience

Foreigners and beginners who’d want to start learning how to cook. To familiarize themselves on how Malaysia foods are made.

Goal

Is to learn on how to prepare local foods, learning the content and ingredients used.

To prepare a guide on how local foods are made before tempting to do so in real life. With this application, one could learn the basic notion on how to cook anytime, anywhere without having to wait guidance from someone in real life.

This VR application can give a simple look on how the foods are made without having any risk if one were to fail.

This sort of application has been popularized in gaming platform. The game is presented in bright colors and modeled/drawn in a cartoonish way. This gaming application has been made with the content being made worldwide thus not able to include every single type of food made by each country. With this application we are focusing on foods that are made here in Malaysia, including precise measurement and details on how it’s made.

Objectives

To get a sense on how local foods are made, cooking procedure whether it begrilled, stewed, boiled, stirred, etc.

What are the essentials, ingredients and utensils.

Level 1 would concentrate on making simple dishes preferably snacks such as biscuits,

Level 2 will concentrate on making side dishes such as making curries and soups.

Level 3 is more on making the full course menu.
